判官笔 Pàn​guān Bǐ - THE JUDGE'S PENS

Panguan (Judge of the Underworld)


During Tang and Song dynasties 判官 Pàn​guān was the mythical judge of underworld who, upon one's entering into the underworld, would pass judgement as to what one's level of punishment would be.

These Dual Weapons represent the writing pen (笔 Bǐ) he held.
The overall length of these was 30cm (11.8 inches).

大刀 Dà Dāo (Large Saber) is an intentionally oversized weapon used for training and strength development inside Baguazhang. When used in actual combat a lighter version would be used.

Techniques for the 剑 Jian include 掃 Sǎo (Clearing), 片 Piàn (Slicing), 掛 Guà (Hanging), 閉 Bì (Blocking), 挑 Tiǎo (Cutting Up), 撩 Liāo (Arcing), etc.
